Marvel Two-In-One #29, 1977 “Two Against Hydra”

I thought it was time I went back to one of my favorite titles with Marvel Two-In-One! This book was so much fun, and even if you aren’t the worlds biggest fan of the Thing, you can still really enjoy this book. Take this issue for example; you get to see Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu, battle right alongside the Thing, as they try to take down Hydra! You get some action, plus some tender moments between Alicia Masters and Ben Grimm, that are absolutely incredible.

The story is by ‘Marvelous’ Marv Wolfman, the pencils by the criminally underrated Ron Wilson, inks by Sam Grainger, letters by John Costanza, and a fantastic cover by Rich Buckler and Frank Giacoia! Just take a look at that awesome splash page of Ben and Alicia in front of Big Ben! Enjoy!

Marvel’s Unsung Heroes! -Ron Wilson!

Of course everyone knows names like Kirby, Buscema, Romita, and Colan, but there is a plethora of other guys (and girls), that need to be given a great deal of credit for the success of Marvel Comics. These others helped forge a new pathway, and their number needs to be counted. So, for the month of April, I’ll be spotlighting some of the work that these unsung heroes gave us all to enjoy over the years!

I’ll be presenting these in no specific order,  but rest assured, we’ll get a peek at a few names that you should recognize! First up is Ron Wilson, because his pencils have always been a favorite of mine, and I think he deserves more respect than he’s gotten over the years. From his great run on titles like Marvel Two-in-One, to more obscure titles like Chamber of Chills, you’ll see it all in this post! Enjoy!

Marvel Two-In-One #22, 1976. “Touch Not The Hand of Seth”

I love comic books with skeletons! Maybe it’s my passion for Ray Harryhausen movies? Anyway, this is not just a cool cover, it has a great story by Bill Mantlo, pencils by Ron Wilson, inks by Pablo Marcos, Don Warfield on colors, Karen Mantlo doing the letters, and Archie Goodwin editing! Thor and Thing must battle Seth, Egyptian god of the underworld! Enjoy!
